finally played Oxenfree Lost Signals and it made my mom and I cry.

Hey… so I finished Oxenfree II and I called Evelyn after setting up the last transmitter, but you have the convo where she doesn’t recognize you and tells you not to call unless it’s an emergency. There’s no follow up about it- and I was so confused. I don’t think you can call her back before the game ends.

Did anyone figure out what was going on with this?

I’m in the community centre. I’ve walked around and opened up the doors. There’s nothing left on the ground or first floor I can interact with and the top floor grey circles won’t let me select them yet. How do I progress? Jacob is staring at the mini Planetshine shrine and I’ve exhausted the downstairs and first floor prompts. Doors open on all three floors. Please help. And please do your best to keep any potential spoilers to oneself as I wish to experience the game with zero idea of what to expect

Edit: my game goofed. A reboot fixed everything and holy shit I’m glad I had to wait until after work to continue

Warm Up #1

This is all kinda nonsense, but idk man i needed to warm up a little bit before writing a short story for class. I put on the Oxenfree OST and this happened. Sorta inspired by Oxenfree? but also? sorta my own take on it? idk man enjoy i suppose

The silence around me was too much to bear. I open my eyes, and look out into the blue abyss. I used to be a fan of the ocean. The rolling waves, the salty breeze, the soft crash of the waves contrasted by the piercing call of the gulls. Now I just sit and stare. Looking at the hideous cluster of fish swimming below my treading feet, I wonder. How in the hell did I ever find this calming? I admit, the color palette is beautiful. The crisp clear blue of the water, the bright oranges and yellows of the coral, the infinite rainbows of fish swimming by. The colors are beautiful. No. Stop that. That’s exactly what they want you to think.

I quickly regain my surroundings. I pat myself down. Everything seems to be in order. Nothing out of place. Everything seems as it was before. With no one in sight, panic makes my blood run cold. Ren, Alex, Jonas. Where are they? I frantically call for them but I am only greeted by the sound of the gulls calling to me from the shore.

I can feel the waves getting higher and higher. I can feel them getting cocky. It’s in the way the waves splash up into my face. It’s in the way the wind whips around me. It’s in the way the fish nudge at my feet. They might be restless. Four out of us five might have been taken already, but I won’t go easily. I rejected their deal long ago and I am determined to keep it that way. I will not be heading home until all of us are safe. With determination in my veins, I take my final breath before descending into the depths. I might not make it to the other side, but I sure as fuck can’t stay here without them.

Its been five whole years between the two Oxenfree games, and people noticed.

Alex watched Riley’s life, she saw the time pass in the past, present, and future. Olivia, Charlie, and Violet all had to hear about these rumors, be lured, because all of the first Oxenfree had already happened. Alex and her friends are tired. Most of all, if you tune into the radio at a certain time, there will be a man on that radio, and he will be speaking in dedication to his nephew. A nephew named Ren.

It’s been five years. What do their families think happened? That they’re dead? Were there no searches? What did Ren’s sisters think, on that island that one of them worked on, that swallowed up their brother? Nona’s parents? Clarissa’s family? What about Alex and Jonas’ parents? How could they possibly handle that, their children finally meeting for the first time, trying to make it all work---and then they’re gone. Did they even stay together after that?

Riley and Jacob lived in a world where five kids went missing on Edwards Island. A world where there were no answers to what happened. As soon as they stepped off that boat, they were erased from existence itself. A world where four families clawed for hope and never got it back.

That world doesn’t exist anymore. But for five years, it was real. One has to wonder if grief can transcend dimensions.
